A functional consultant can know finance, manufacturing, retail or supply chain extremely well. That knowledge is essential—but it is not enough by itself. The consultant also needs deep familiarity with the ERP being implemented.
Business requirements must be translated into product capability
The implementation team constantly decides whether a requirement belongs in standard functionality, configuration, workflow design, integration or custom development. Without product knowledge, that decision becomes guesswork.
Weak product knowledge often creates unnecessary customization
If the team does not know that a capability already exists, the client may pay to recreate it. The result can be more code, more testing, more upgrade risk and more long-term support effort than necessary.
It can also create the opposite problem
Sometimes an implementer assumes the ERP can handle a requirement because a similar feature exists elsewhere in the platform. A strong consultant validates the actual end-to-end behavior before committing the client to a solution.
The Accu360 partner model helps shorten the learning gap
Nexera's NIPL partnership includes product and consultancy training, implementation support and a defined escalation route for issues that require product-level expertise. Nexera remains the client's functional and implementation contact, while NIPL can support the partner when the question moves beyond first-level functional support.
This creates a healthier consulting model
The goal is not to send every question to the software vendor. The goal is to build strong local implementation capability while retaining access to the people responsible for the product when a deeper issue needs to be resolved.
Know the business. Know the product. Customize only when there is a clear reason. Escalate product-level questions through a defined path rather than guessing.
